Albert

Albert, discovered in Nasca, Peru, is a growing reptilian specimen measuring 60.5 cm long with a metal implant in his right hip. He probably suffers from a bone disease.

The head and neck

Albert: possibly retractable neck

Albert’s neck may be retractable.

The hands

One of Albert's fingernails

A Length of the distal phalanx
B Length of the nail

His hands are in a pronated position with long, slender fingers ending in nails that cover more than 80% of the distal phalanx. In Homo sapiens, the nail does not extend beyond 50% of the distal phalanx.

The ribs

Albert has 8 pairs of ribs, including 2 floating ribs.

The average composition is estimated at approximately 25% copper and 50% silver.

  • Copper 25% 25%
  • Silver 50% 50%
  • Traces of gold, carbonates, and silicates 25% 25%

The composition of this sample is entirely consistent with the typical compositions recorded for pre-Columbian objects made from a copper-silver alloy. The microstructure observable in topographic imaging seems to indicate that the source object was made by cold hammering sheets of copper-silver alloy, a technique also documented for the manufacture of many pre-Columbian objects.

Regarding the biocompatibility of an implant made from such an alloy, given the chemical activity of copper and silver depending on the context (pH, etc.), the histological consequences on a living organism would be uncertain and require the opinion of a specialist.

Comparative analysis of the DNA from the three samples confirms that they belong to the same individual.
